Westgate Disc Golf

Westgate disc golf is a private course set amongst the hills of North Devon. There are two 9 hole courses spread across 4 acres of farmland and the fields are shared with the Westgate Angus breeding herd. The course is set up each year once the cows move into the cattle shed for the winter and remains in place until early spring when the cows return for grazing.

The Wellyboot course is considered slightly easier and is shorter compared to the Angus course where there are two holes with mandatory flight paths (11 and 17).   The ‘practical par’ for the combined course is a total of 71 and the length is 1230m, most holes are par 4; those marked * are par 3 and those marked ** are par 5.   For experts, and during tournaments, the par would reduce by 1 shot per hole.

It is suggested that the 2m rule is used when playing at Westgate.  Out of bounds details are available from the owners and a selection of golf discs are freely available for a refundable deposit of £7 each.  There are two drop zones for wayward discs when crossing over the out of bounds road to move between the upper and lower pastures.

The Muddi Classic 2009 held on Boxing Day was enjoyed by all the participants.  Click results to see how everyone got on.
